The Strathmore University Football club was started in 2000. The team comprises 60 players spread across different years and courses in the university.

Being one of the most recognized soccer teams in Kenya, Strathmore University soccer team is the only university team participating in the top league in Kenya, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nationwide Division One. The team has previously taken part in the Nationwide Super League before being relegated. Besides winning the NASOKUSA Nationals in the 2007 and 2009, the team has bagged several victories including the East Africa games in 2010, drubbing the fierce rivals, Kenyatta University. Major success cameinthe2009when the team made history as the first and only university team to win the Jamhuri cup battling out the likes of Agro-chemicals,MoyasandthethenundefeatedPostaRangers.

Other wins they have secured include tournaments such as JKUAT Open, KU Open, GretsaOpenandtheSt. Paul’s Tournament winning the coveted cup three times in a row in 2015, 2016, and 2017 and come out runners-upinthe2018.

In the current ongoing seasontheteamhasmade a notable improvement from 13th to 7th place in the league rankings. One of the players, Meshack Ochieno, was also recognized as the top scorer in the league.

The team trains five times a week at the sports complex as they work towards being among the top four in the FKF league.
